In recent weeks, speculation has grown regarding Barcelona's position in the European Superleague, where they and Real Madrid are the only clubs still involved in the project. However, it has been reported and confirmed by Barcelona president Joan Laporta that the club intends to abandon the Superleague initiative.
Laporta, speaking to El Chiringuito de Jugones, revealed Barcelona's plans to realign with UEFA, citing a good relationship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of the European Club Association. He emphasized Barcelona's commitment to pacifying European football and reaching an agreement to return to UEFA, noting that this is a desire shared by all clubs involved.
When questioned about Barcelona's recent on-pitch struggles, including consecutive defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla, Laporta downplayed any need for panic. He referenced Deco's reflections, highlighted the team's three important titles from the previous season, and stressed the motivation for the Champions League. Laporta expressed confidence in Hansi Flick and the players, urging them to maintain intensity, spirit, and hunger to remain competitive.
