Manchester City and England defender John Stones has dismissed speculation about his future as "laughable". Despite not playing a match since February, Stones confirmed he is back to full fitness and participating fully in pre-season training, stating he has felt great for months.
Stones acknowledged that his recurring injury problems in recent years have fueled transfer rumors. However, he insisted he sees nothing about such speculation and finds it amusing, emphasizing there is nothing to comment on. He declared his love for Manchester City, stating his commitment is to fight for his place, play, and win trophies with the club.
The defender also reflected on Manchester City's disappointing previous season, where they finished without a trophy for only the second time in a decade, including a poor run of just one win in 13 games. Stones described this as "humbling" after their past success, making the team appreciate their achievements but also feel frustrated by their performance.
Stones stated that finishing third was unacceptable for the team based on their standards and how they played. He stressed the need to correct the situation, rediscover their identity, return to winning matches, regain their presence, and rebuild self-belief within the team, confident they will achieve this.
