Kinlie Brennise Continues Breakout Season As She Climbs The Breakaway Standings

Kinlie Brennise, raised in Craig, Colorado without a traditional rodeo family background, competed alongside her brother with support from her parents Sheila and Scott and one rodeo-participating uncle. Her parents dedicated extensive resources to her development, traveling nationwide to access top clinics and competitions.

Currently pursuing her first National Finals qualification, Brennise transitioned this year from regional circuit rodeos to full-time competition, noting significant mental adjustments. As a four-time Mountain States circuit finals qualifier, she emphasizes managing emotional highs and lows: "I’ve learned to not ride the highs too high and the lows too low... taking it one calf at a time."

She acknowledges competitive slumps require varied responses—sometimes stepping away entirely or reverting to fundamentals like roping practice dummies. As of July 10, Brennise ranked fifth globally with $61,000 in annual earnings, later adding approximately $18,000 by advancing from Pool A to the finals at Calgary Stampede.

Brennise consistently credits her family for her success, recognizing their foundational role in her performance. She plans to rely on their support throughout her ongoing campaign to qualify for Las Vegas' National Finals Rodeo.
