The Ligue 1 match between Olympique Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain, originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed by one day due to forecasts of heavy rain and storms in the region. The decision was announced by Marseille in an official statement.
An "orange alert" for storms and rain-flooding was issued by the regional prefect, effective from midday. According to the prefect, rainfall in some areas could reach 70 to 90 mm, with localized amounts of up to 120 mm within a few hours. The severe weather was expected to occur between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., coinciding with the start and end of the match, which was anticipated to draw nearly 70,000 spectators to the Orange-Velodrome stadium.
The rescheduled match will now take place on Monday at 20:00 local time. Marseille confirmed that tickets purchased for the original Sunday fixture will remain valid for the postponed match.
