The Milwaukee Bucks have significantly declined from their status as NBA titans, experiencing three consecutive first-round playoff exits since their 2021 championship victory, placing the team in a state of flux.
In an effort to rebound, the Bucks added Myles Turner in free agency, creating a strong defensive partnership with Giannis Antetokounmpo, and they are also exploring options to bolster their offense.
Reports indicate that the Bucks are interested in trading for Boston Celtics guard Anfernee Simons, who has been on the trade block since the Celtics acquired him in a June deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers.
This pursuit aligns with the Bucks' need for additional scoring in the backcourt following the loss of Damian Lillard, as Simons averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game last season, with consistent high scoring in previous years.
Simons, who is 25 years old, has one year remaining on his contract and is set to earn $27.7 million this season, while the Celtics are actively seeking to shed salary and may trade him if a suitable deal emerges, though they could also retain him for future considerations.
The Bucks finished the last season with a 48-34 record, marking their worst winning percentage since the 2017-18 campaign, underscoring the urgency for roster improvements.
