Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson Becker has suffered a significant hamstring injury during the Champions League match against Galatasaray, ruling him out until the November international break. The injury occurred in the second half of the defeat at RAMS Park, forcing him off the pitch immediately after making a crucial save against Victor Osimhen.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed deep concern in his post-match press conference, stating that Alisson felt something while sprinting back and could not return to play. He confirmed that Alisson would definitely be unavailable for the upcoming Saturday fixture against Chelsea, highlighting the severity of the injury.
Summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to make his Premier League debut as the starting goalkeeper in Alisson's absence, having already replaced him during the Galatasaray match. This change comes at a critical time as Alisson is projected to miss seven fixtures across the Premier League, Champions League, and other competitions, including key matches against Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal.
This injury setback is part of a recurring pattern for Alisson, who missed 26 matches in the 2024–25 season due to similar hamstring issues, along with previous absences from thigh injuries and a concussion. Despite these interruptions, his impact on Liverpool has been substantial, with 307 appearances and 129 clean sheets since joining in 2018, playing a vital role in the club's domestic and European successes.
