Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is reportedly a leading candidate to become the head coach of Tanzanian Premier League champions Young Africans (Yanga). Mokwena is currently unattached after leaving Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca at the end of the previous season.
While recently linked with North African sides Zamalek and MC Alger, reports from Pan-Africa Football indicate Mokwena is now among the front-runners for the Yanga position. The Tanzanian club requires a new head coach following Miloud Hamdi's departure after one season; Hamdi has joined Egyptian club Ismaily SC.
A source within Yanga confirmed to Pan-Africa Football that the club has narrowed down its search for a head coach, stating, "We have talked to several coaches, we have been cutting down the numbers, and we now have the man to take us forward and he will be unveiled in due course." Young Africans will compete in the CAF Champions League.
