Yoane Wissa was left out of Brentford's matchday squad for the second consecutive Premier League match, having also missed the opening day defeat to Nottingham Forest, though he returned to team training ahead of the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Wissa had previously refused to train in an attempt to force a move to Newcastle United, and he deleted all mentions of Brentford from his Instagram account, indicating his desire to leave the club.
Newcastle United increased their bid for Wissa from £25 million to £40 million, but Brentford rejected the offer, which disappointed the player amidst the ongoing transfer interest.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews stated that Wissa has been training with the team and a decision on his squad involvement would be made, but he emphasized that he does not want Wissa to leave and hopes he remains with the club beyond the transfer deadline, understanding the player's situation but valuing his quality.
