AC Milan have initiated contact with AS Monaco striker Breel Embolo regarding a potential summer transfer, as reported by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. Manager Massimiliano Allegri has prioritized signing a new centre-forward as part of the club's summer overhaul plans.
The Rossoneri require a reliable backup for Santiago Gimenez, especially following the departures of Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic. Players Noah Okafor and Alvaro Morata could also leave as they are not part of the club's future plans. Beyond backup, Milan also want the incoming striker to provide genuine competition for Gimenez, who has struggled to settle since his arrival from Feyenoord.
Embolo has consequently emerged as a target on Milan's wishlist. His potential availability is enhanced by his contract expiring next summer, which could allow Milan to secure him for a reduced fee compared to Monaco's current €20 million valuation.
Embolo has been a key player for Monaco since joining from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2022. Last season, he contributed seven goals and nine assists, helping the club qualify for the Champions League. He is also a regular starter for the Swiss national team, scoring in consecutive friendlies against Mexico and the USA last month.
Described as a traditional target man due to his strong physical build, Embolo is also noted for his excellent link-up play.
