Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is currently undergoing a rigorous rehabilitation process for a torn Achilles tendon suffered in May. In a recent TikTok video, Tatum described the recovery as "tedious," involving six days of rehab per week, but noted he is now out of a protective boot and focusing on taking his progress one day at a time.
The injury occurred during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks on May 12, with surgery taking place the following day. Although the Celtics have not provided an official timeline for his return, there are positive indications regarding his recovery progress.
Celtics president Brad Stevens commented in June that Tatum has "progressed great," emphasizing that the team will not rush his return and will prioritize ensuring he is fully healthy before returning to the court. External reports, including from Heavy Sports, suggest Tatum is "way ahead" in his recovery and was observed moving well in late July.
Despite the optimistic recovery signs, Tatum, a four-time All-NBA First Team selection, is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025-26 NBA season due to the severity of the injury.
