Riccardo Trevisani has criticized Inter Milan for not pursuing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma more aggressively during the summer transfer window, stating that the club should have made his signing a top priority.
Inter Milan had an active summer, signing five new players and severing ties with several fringe stars. The new signings were costly, with the club spending approximately €85 million on players including Ange-Yoan Bonny, Luis Henrique, Andy Diouf, and Petar Sucic. Additionally, Manuel Akanji joined on loan from Manchester City with an option to buy.
Despite these signings, Inter spent much of the summer pursuing Ademola Lookman, but eventually gave up in early August due to Atalanta's firm stance. They then shifted focus to Roma's Manu Kone, but Roma showed no interest in selling.
Donnarumma emerged as a market opportunity midway through the summer after falling out of favor at Paris Saint-Germain, with his agent actively seeking a new club. However, Inter only monitored the situation from a distance, and the goalkeeper ultimately joined Manchester City at the end of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, current Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer is on the brink of losing his starting position, with Josep Martinez expected to take over.
