Bayern Munich's management has informed 18-year-old Swedish forward Jonah Kusi-Asare that he is part of the club's plans for the coming season, specifically as a backup option to star striker Harry Kane. The club is also keen to extend Kusi-Asare's contract, which is set to expire next summer.
This decision represents a change in plan. Previously, it was thought that if Bayern successfully signed striker Nick Woltemade, Kusi-Asare would be sent out on loan for the season. However, sporting director Max Eberl and the management have now instructed Kusi-Asare to reject any forthcoming loan offers. Although Bayern hasn't completely abandoned their pursuit of Woltemade, a deal before the transfer window closes on September 1st is now considered increasingly unlikely.
Kusi-Asare joined Bayern Munich from Swedish champions AIK in February 2024. Since then, he has made 12 appearances for Bayern's reserve team (Bayern II) in the Regionalliga, scoring two goals. He also made one first-team appearance in the Bundesliga, coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 home victory over Mainz.
