The Dallas Cowboys have acquired defensive tackle Kenny Clark from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for Micah Parsons, marking one of the most significant trades in recent NFL history. Clark received the news unexpectedly while getting ice cream for his daughter.
Clark, a 29-year-old three-time Pro Bowler who spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the Packers, expressed shock but gratitude upon learning of the trade. He emphasized that the Cowboys are getting a dedicated, high-effort player who is difficult to stop at his best, stating, "I'm here to play my ass off."
With the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles just six days away, Clark aims to quickly integrate into the team, focusing on establishing himself through his performance and leadership. He has existing familiarity with teammate Osa Odighizuwa, as both attended UCLA, and Clark played with Osa's older brother.
Cowboys management cited run defense as a primary reason for the trade, believing Clark addresses a critical need. Clark has consistently strong run-stopping metrics, including an 11.1% career run stop rate and a career-high 4% run stuff rate in 2024. However, he stresses that effective run defense requires collective effort and accountability from all 11 defensive players.
In addition to his run-stopping prowess, Clark has demonstrated pass-rushing ability, recording 35 career sacks—including a personal best of 7.5 in 2023. His versatility allows him to play multiple positions along the defensive line, and he anticipates making significant impact plays regardless of where he is positioned.
