New York Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson expressed surprise regarding Myles Turner's departure from the Indiana Pacers to the Milwaukee Bucks on a four-year, $108.9 million deal. Brunson, speaking on his podcast, called the situation "weird," noting Turner had recently reflected on his decade with the Pacers before abruptly leaving.
Following Turner's exit, the Pacers acquired center Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies as their initial replacement. This move was praised by The Athletic as one of the best under-the-radar transactions of the NBA offseason. Concurrently, criticism emerged from an unnamed agent who accused the Pacers of consistently undervaluing and disrespecting Turner over the years, particularly during trade deadlines and contract negotiations. The agent stated Turner played below market value on his last contract and claimed the Pacers expected him to take another pay cut this offseason to avoid the luxury tax, making his departure unexpected.
