Schroder, Wagner lift Germany past Slovenia; Israel beat Greece

Germany secured an 80-70 victory over Slovenia in Mannheim, marking their second win against them within 48 hours. Despite a slow start where Dennis Schroder went 1-for-10 in the first half, Germany roared back after Slovenia opened the third quarter with a 15-2 run. Andreas Obst hit a crucial three-pointer with three minutes remaining to give Germany a 71-70 lead. Schroder finished with 18 points and 6 assists, Franz Wagner added 17 points, and Isaac Bonga contributed 12 points. Gregor Hrovat led Slovenia with 15 points in the absence of Luka Doncic. Germany next plays Türkiye in Munich on August 15th, while Slovenia faces Lithuania in Siauliai the same day.

Israel defeated Greece 75-58 in the Ecommbx Cup in Limassol for their third preparatory win. A dominant 36-17 second half propelled Israel to victory. Deni Avdija and Roman Sorkin each scored 16 points for Israel. Tyler Dorsey led Greece, still missing Giannis Antetokounmpo, with 14 points.

Jonas Valanciunas made a strong return in his first game of the summer, helping Lithuania defeat Georgia 77-54 in Kaunas. Valanciunas scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 14 minutes, with Azuolas Tubelis adding 10 points. This marked Lithuania's third consecutive warm-up win. Sandro Mamukelashvili led Georgia with 15 points.

Serbia improved to 4-0 in their EuroBasket preparations with a commanding 122-55 victory over Cyprus in the Ecommbx Cup. Despite missing Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Serbia led from start to finish. Tristan Vukcevic led six Serbian players in double figures with 24 points.

Poland edged out Sweden 74-72 in Katowice for their second preparatory win. Jordan Loyd led Poland with 20 points, including going 4-for-5 from three-point range. Pelle Larsson recorded 14 points and 7 assists for Sweden, who suffered their first loss (1-1 record).

Portugal suffered their second loss in three preparatory games, falling 84-70 to Argentina in Madrid. Diogo Brito led Portugal with 17 points (4-for-7 from three-point range), and Miguel Queiroz added 14 points and 4 rebounds. Portugal next faces Iceland in Braga on August 15th.

Montenegro earned their first win of the preparation phase, defeating Bosnia & Herzegovina 102-90. Montenegro pulled away early in the third quarter. Bosnia & Herzegovina dropped to their fourth consecutive loss.
