Stephen A. Smith has reignited his ongoing conflict with LeBron James by accusing the NBA superstar of treating journalists differently based on their race, as discussed in a recent podcast appearance.
The dispute dates back to March, when cameras captured a heated confrontation between Smith and James during a Los Angeles Lakers game against the New York Knicks, stemming from Smith's remarks about James' son, Bronny.
On 'The Pivot Podcast' with Ryan Clark, Smith alleged that James exhibits racial bias in his interactions with the media, questioning if James has ever confronted a white journalist in the same manner as he did with Smith, and emphasizing that his own professional ethics were not at fault.
Smith expressed frustration over being depicted as someone who would attack a child, calling it a low blow, and reiterated that James' behavior towards him was unwarranted, while noting that the only similar instance involved white journalist Brian Windhorst.
He acknowledged that James had previously criticized Windhorst, who has covered James' career since high school, but implied that this was an exception rather than a pattern in James' dealings with white journalists.
