The Unrivaled women's league, which debuted in 2025, is returning for its second season in January, featuring an expanded roster of talent. While the inaugural season included WNBA stars like Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Angel Reese, season two has attracted additional players, such as Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers, who signed a name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with the league while still in college and is set to make her debut.
The league has opted for a gradual player announcement strategy on social media, revealing six players each weekday from September 22 to September 30. Announcements began daily at 12 p.m. ET, with one player revealed per hour until all six were disclosed. However, on Wednesday, the rollout paused after only four players were announced, leaving two roster spots unfilled.
Clare Duwelius, the general manager of Unrivaled, explained in a statement that the final two spots require more time to finalize due to ongoing productive negotiations with players. She expressed excitement about the talent added so far and the returning athletes, emphasizing the league's commitment to allowing players space for decision-making. Duwelius thanked fans for their support and promised to share the remaining roster details soon.
The announcement series commenced on September 22 with Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas as the first player revealed for season two. Paige Bueckers was the fourth player announced, confirming her anticipated participation after her previous NIL deal, which generated significant excitement.
