Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) and Sunderland have expressed interest in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson, with both clubs making enquiries about the Norwegian player.
Despite Ryerson extending his contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 2028 just last month, it remains uncertain whether he will choose to pursue his ambition of playing in the Premier League or remain loyal to the German club he joined from Union Berlin for €5 million in July 2022.
During his time at Dortmund, the 27-year-old has made 101 appearances across all competitions, contributing seven goals and six assists. While not considered the most flashy player, he is viewed as integral to the team (die Schwarzgelben) and fits the wing-back system favoured by manager Niko Kovac.
With a market value estimated at €20 million by Transfermarkt, Borussia Dortmund would require a significant transfer fee to even contemplate selling Ryerson. Should Sunderland succeed in signing the wing-back, it would mark their second acquisition from the Bundesliga following their recent promotion, after they signed Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen last month.
